Top-up with First Aid is a compulsory 2 day or 4 days (dependant on the First Aid Qualification selected) additional training in order to renew your SIA license. SIA is changing the way that Security Guard and Door Supervisor Licenses are renewed from the 1st of October 2021.
This 2 day or 4 day online/classroom ‘Level 2 Award for Security Officers in the Private Security Industry (Top Up RQF)’ Plus ‘Level 3 First Aid ( EFAW or FAW)’ course is designed for Security Operatives who currently hold a license from the Security Industry Authority (SIA) to work as a Security Operative and need to be bought up to date with the NEW Licence Linked qualification requirements that also came in from 01st April 2021 for new Security Operatives.
First Aid
The SIA have stipulated that you Must be in possession of an approved First Aid Qualification with a minimum of 12 months left to run, on the first day of the course. Below are 2 Level 3 First Aid Courses that satisfy the requirements:
Level 3 Emergency First Aid 1 Day Classroom Based
Level 3 First Aid at Work 3 Days Classroom Based
Course Length
Option One – 2 days – 1 Day Classroom Level 3 Emergency First Aid plus 1 day online Security Operative Top Up Training
Option Two – 4 days – 3 Days Classroom Level 3 First Aid at Work Plus 1 day online Security Operative Top Up Training
Top Up Course Length
1-day (4hr minimum contact hours or with self-study 50 minutes excluding exams) in total consisting of 1 day online. You will also be required to register and complete a video assisted eLearning course ‘The Principles of Terror Threat Awareness in the Private Security Industry’ module 1hr 40 minutes as well as Self Study for ‘The Principles of Minimising Personal Risk for Security Officers in the Private Security Industry’ module 1hr 30 minutes.
Assessment
This qualification is assessed by 2 multiple choice exams.
- The Principles of Terror Threat Awareness Module
10 Multiple Choice Questions 20 minutes Pass Mark 70%
- Principles of Minimising Personal Risk for Security Officers in the Private Security Industry
16 Multiple Choice Questions 25 minutes Pass Mark 70%
Qualification
Successful candidates will receive a a ‘Level 3 Award In Emergency First Aid at Work (RQF)’ or ‘Level 3 First Aid at Work (RQF)‘ and ‘ Level 2 Award for Security Officers in the Private Industry (Top Up RQF)’ qualification, which sits on the regulations Framework (RQF). The RQF is a Qualification Framework regulated by Ofqual and CCEA Regulation. It is also suitable for delivery in Wales and is regulated by Qualifications Wales.
