Course ContentsThe Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work meets The Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 in respect of First Aid at Work and is aimed at individuals who intend to develop and gain formal recognition of their knowledge, understanding and skills of first aid at work.
This 3 day course will familiarise students with the roles and responsibilities of the First Aider, including assessing an incident, recognising signs and symptoms of injury and illness, and assisting a casualty who is suffering from bleeding, shock, injury, illness, poisoning and anaphylaxis.
Students will learn and be assessed on their practical ability to deal with casualties who have stopped breathing, are unconscious, are bleeding and suffering from shock.
Who Should Attend?
Anyone who wants to gain a formal first aid qualification or has been identified as requiring First Aid at Work during their employer’s first aid risk assessment.

- The Role and Responsibility of an Emergency First Aider.
- Assessing an Incident.
- Managing an Unresponsive Casualty who is Breathing Normally.
- Managing an Unresponsive Casualty who is not Breathing Normally.
- Recognise and Assisting a Casualty who is Choking.
- Managing a Casualty with External Bleeding.
- Managing a Casualty who is in Shock.
- Managing a Casualty with a Minor Injury.
- Conducting a secondary survey
- Administering first aid to a casualty with injuries to bones, muscles and joints
- Administering First Aid to a casualty with suspected head and spinal injuries
- Administering First Aid to a casualty with suspected chest injuries
- Administering First Aid to a casualty with burns and scalds
- Administering First Aid to a casualty with an eye injury
- Administering First Aid to a casualty with sudden poisoning
- Administering First Aid to a casualty with anaphylaxis
- Providing First Aid to a casualty with suspected major illness
